Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most rare of all pop stars: an artist who could effectively bridge the gap between country and pop and conquer the world. Swift has thrown off her country roots like she was shedding skins for second purposes, and has proven herself to be one of the most savvy pop singer/songwriter in her generation. Swift is able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it her personal. The evidence was clear from her first songs, especially on the neo pay homage of Tim McGraw. On her album Fearless (2008) Swift showcased a writer getting to know her. Fearless went on to become a global hit but not only in the United States (where it received with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story as well as "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia and the U.K. and other countries. Swift's next album Speak Now, released almost two years after the first one, consolidated this momentum. The album propelled Swift into the spotlight. Swift's popularity grew throughout her subsequent three albums: Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. Although she slowed down her approach with 2020's stripped-down siblings' folklore and Evermore she was still atop the pop world a position she maintained with re-recordings of her back catalog along with Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 collection.
